Disney just announced that Pandora: The World Of Avatar Opens May 27th 2017. This colossal land has been under construction for quite a few years. In the behind the scenes video released last year , James Cameron (Creator & Director of Avatar), Joe Rohde (Walt Disney Imagineering Senior VP Creative), & Jon Landau (Producer of Avatar) speak in-depth of the new land.
Pandora: The World Of Avatar Opens May 25th 2017, and being designed by Walt Disney Imagineering along with Avatar creator James Cameron. “This project is really pushing the boundaries of what is possible. Since we first broke ground last year at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, we’ve been looking forward to welcoming guests into Pandora, the mythical land based on the blockbuster film ‘Avatar,” Bruce Vaughn, Walt Disney Imagineering’s chief creative executive. said. “We’re having a lot of fun dreaming up ways to bring to life the land’s iconic elements from the magnificent floating mountains to the interactive bioluminescent forest, and even to the soaring banshees.”
Pandora : The World Of Avatar, will cover quite a few acres and also feature several attractions, entertainment, audio-animatronics, and 3-D holograms. It will also include retail, food and beverage outlets.
James Cameron confirmed that a flying attraction featuring “3-D projections and creature designs that were cut from the original film” was a concept on the drawing board for the area. Naʼvi, the sapient humanoid indigenous inhabitants of the fictional moon Pandora will be a major part of the new land, which will include elements from the original Avatar film as well as its three, yet-to-be-released sequels.
This magnificent new world will be unlike anything ever experienced at a Disney Park. “Pandora” was the stunning kingdom that held so many of us in awe when the movie was released. Now guests will experience the wonders of “Pandora” when they “fly with the banshees” and discover a flourishing natural environment.
The park will launch more nighttime entertainment as well, including live performers on Discovery Island and a new nighttime version of the Kilimanjaro Safaris. Mountains that float, swirling animal images and interactive plants that glow at night are combined to showcase Discovery River.
New attractions coming to Pandora: Avatar Land
• An amazing water ride which could be compared to the indoor ride “Pirates of Caribbean” or the outside Jungle Cruise experience.
• And a airborne simulator ride which will let guest “discover what it feels like to soar into the sky riding a Banshee.”
• A nighttime journey through a brilliantly lit jungle.
• If you remember the “Mother Tree” in the movie, then you will love the transformation outside Avatar Land, where the Tree of Life will be transformed using electronics and light projections during a new nighttime magnificent experience.
