If you have walked through Islands of Adventure recently, then you will get an idea of just how gigantic the new King Kong attraction is going to be! Massive stone structures straight out of the 2005 King Kong film by Peter Jackson, who is consulting on Skull Island: Reign of Kong, encircle a 72-foot tall wall which is the opening to this indoor/outdoor adventure’s interior. The extent of the front wall rivals anything in an Orlando park, and aerial photos prove that the show building hiding behind it is equally massive. Universal Creative’s Mike West confirmed that this will be among the longest attractions they’ve ever created in terms of ride duration, so expect an E-Ticket experience in every sense.
Skull Island: Reign of Kong Updates
Just recently, Universal Orlando revealed big news about its King Kong attraction: The ride vehicles for Skull Island: Reign of Kong, opening this summer at Islands of Adventure theme park, are MASSIVE!
Specifics for the Skull Island trucks show that they will hold up to 72 passengers in 12 rows. They will be 40 feet long, 13 feet tall and weigh in at 17 tons. But more importantly, Skull Island: Reign of Kong will be Universal Orlando’s first trackless ride. Mike West of Universal Creative says in a “Making of Skull Island” video. “When you depart on your adventure to Skull Island: Reign of Kong, there won’t be a rail or track in sight.”
According to the attraction story-line, the vehicles will be used to transport theme-park visitors to the homeland of Kong, also the home base to an array of other creatures. The adventures will come about in a new way for the park.
Universal Orlando continues to be a mega-giant in creating fantastical attractions that draw huge crowds to Central Florida and there is no doubt when Skull Island: Reign of Kong opens this summer it will one that guest will remember for a long time to come.
