Cinemark Theatres Replaces AMC Universal Cineplex at Universal

Universal Orlando is not limiting all of the special improvements to their 3 parks, Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure & Volcano Bay, but has taken a huge step in refurbishing City Walk, the only entrance onto the property, with that the AMC Universal Cineplex 20 are the next logical choice for modernization.

Universal Orlando officially announced that major enhancements are coming to the movie theater beginning this fall, as it becomes Universal Cinemark. The grander enhancements promise to “enrich your entertainment experience, further immersing you in the action of the films in the most cutting-edge movie-watching environment available.”

The transformation of Universal’s theater will begin in September and take several months to complete. New, reclining, Cinemark Luxury Loungers with extendable footrests, cup holders and plush seating will be installed in all 20 auditoriums, so Guests can kick up their feet and enjoy the ultimate comfort while watching their favorite films.

This marks the beginning of Universal’s partnership with Cinemark Theatres, which operates more than 530 theaters around the world. The theater will be closed all day on Friday, September 14 to prepare for Universal Cinemark’s debut on Saturday, September 15. Comments Off on Is it War? Universal Orlando’s 4th Park- Fantastic Worlds

Fantastic Worlds is the rumored name for a fourth Universal Orlando theme park, which amps up the ongoing theme park war with Walt Disney World. A Comcast executive confirmed the company filed the name registration, when a patent application was filed last month.

Is it War? Universal Orlando’s 4th Park- Fantastic Worlds

Joining Universal Studios Orlando, Islands of Adventure and Volcano Bay, a fourth Universal property would amp up ongoing competition with Disney, which operates four theme parks, two waterparks and the Disney Springs retail complex in the Orlando area.

“In terms of a new gate in Florida we are looking at it,” said Burke speaking during an earnings call. “We’ve filed a name registration, we have a lot of great intellectual properties and we love the theme park business, which is one of our best, most consistent businesses.

“Another gate for Universal in Florida would turn Florida from a two or three-day destination to potentially a weeklong destination. We think that would be attractive.”

That same executive also went on to say, “Another gate in Florida would have the advantage of turning Florida from a two or three-day destination to potentially a weeklong destination.”

Duncan Dickson, a professor of theme park management, reported Nethe term “gate” refers to a ticketed entry to a park and says the Comcast executive was likely talking about a fourth park here in Orlando.

The name Fantastic World, itself offers the imagination endless possibilities, and quite possibly came from supposed guest survey that was sent out by Universal asking respondents, “Which of these names for a theme park is most likely to belong to Universal?” The options included Fantastic Worlds, Epic Worlds, Legendary Worlds, Legendary Lands and DreamPark.

On a recent episode of the Disney Dish podcast, industry insider Jim Hill indicated he was leaning toward the DreamPark name, since the new park will likely include multiple DreamWorks franchises. But other industry experts, including Josh Young of Theme Park University and Alicia Stella of Orlando Park Stop, both known for the accurate reporting of recent Universal rumors, point to the Fantastic Worlds name.

It had been previously reported that Universal has been acquiring hundreds of acres of land along Sand Lake Road for a possible addition to its current theme parks.

Universal recently purchased about 500 acres of undeveloped land east of International Drive. It is bordered to the north by Sand Lake Road and to the south by Destination Parkway.

Volcano Bay, Universal’s last project created a new chapter at Universal Orlando. Replacing the revolutionary, but ultimately outdated, Wet ‘n Wild on International Drive, it sits directly alongside Universal’s Cabana Beach Bay Resort hotel. The “next-level water theme park” was brought to life by Universal Creative, and gives visitors a fun-filled, hassle-free experience with their friends and family.

Will Fantastic Worlds be the project that tips the scale in the ongoing theme park war with Walt Disney World? Not sure, but it is great fun watching and reaping the exciting benefits this offers. In the meantime check out some of the lowest prices on Universal Orlando Tickets here.
