It has just been announced by Universal Orlando, that The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is expanding! There has been speculation the last few months because of ongoing construction in the area where the old Jaws Ride was, but no one could have guessed such a monumental undertaking!
Diagon Alley, will not be in Islands of Adventure, but will be situated in Universal Studios and park goers will be able to journey between the two parks from King’s Cross station in London to Hogsmeade, aboard the Hogwarts Express with the Park-to-Park ticket. The new expansion is scheduled to open in 2014 and is being touted as the “World’s First Centrally Themed, Multi-Park Experience!” The creative teams of Universal Orlando and Warner Bros have collaborated to the extreme, to bring this amazing undertaking to fruition.
“Our vision is to create two amazing theme park experiences that combine into ONE complete magical journey,” said Alice Norsworthy, executive vice president, marketing and sales for Universal Orlando Resort.
Diagon Alley will be similar to Hogsmeade in the original Wizarding World. The centerpiece will be a ride based on Gringotts Wizarding Bank from the film. Surrounding the ride will be a shopping area in London behind the Leaky Cauldron pub, which can’t be seen by Muggles. The set is based on scenes from the movie when Harry Potter first learns he is a wizard and Hagrid takes him to Gringotts to withdraw money from his vault. Afterwards they shop for school supplies (like which owl to have) and then go to the famous Ollivander’s Wand Shop to pick a wand.
“I’m so pleased that The Wizarding World of Harry Potter has proved so popular to date, and I’m sure that the attention to detail in creating the new Diagon Alley area will make this an even better experience,” said J.K. Rowling.
The OTC MAN will keep you up to date! In the meantime check out this great prices on Orlando Ticket Connection’s Universal Orlando 3 Park UNLIMITED!
Kennedy Space Center has been busy lately! The Space Shuttle Atlantis is unwrapped! The crews at Kennedy Space Center started unwrapping the 80 ton, 122 foot long Space Shuttle Orbiter this week and are preparing for the $100 million exhibit to be open June 29th.
The shuttle had been wrapped up since being moved November 2, 2013, to avoid any damage to it while the construction for its new home was underway. The 90,000-square-foot resting place will provide visitors a unique vantage point to study the massive shuttle while learning about the 30 year space program.
Atlantis’s new home is a six-story facility that is located in the Shuttle Plaza next to the existing Shuttle Launch Experience. At the entrance to the Atlantis exhibit, guests walk underneath a full-size replica space shuttle external tank flanked by two solid rocket boosters.
This new facility is designed by PGAV Destinations; an architect headquartered in St. Louis, Mo., and is being built by Whiting-Turner Contracting Company in Orlando, Florida. The outer layer of the building includes orange and gold “wings,” representing the space shuttle’s reentry to Earth.
Atlantis has been on 33 missions, and has more than a few scrapes and dents, but KSC workers are excited for the chance to inspect, and clean her up so she will be in good shape to impress the crowds that Kennedy Space Center are hoping to draw.
The enormous shuttle will eventually be suspended 30 feet in mid air at a 45 degree angle so that the visual exploration will be outstanding. They are faced with a final challenge when they attempt to open the payload doors that are only meant to be opened in micro-gravity.
The OTC Genius gives this a 5 STAR RATING, because Atlantis has been past the stars, and now has finally come home for good!

Orlando, Fla.—-SeaWorld Orlando, has taken over the care of a abandon manatee calf. The baby was rescued a couple a days ago by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, after responding to a concerned citizen. The person spotted the baby manatee swimming by itself in Sikes Creek in Merritt Island and knew that something was wrong.
The rescuers arrived on the scene and immediately knew that it because it was so young that the chances of it surviving were very slim. They transported the 3 foot long, approximately 35 lb, calf to SeaWorld Orlando where blood samples were drawn and antibiotics were given. The male calf will be feed by a tube and closely monitored.
The staff at SeaWorld is very gifted in this area, as this will make the 8th rescued manatee since 2013 began. One the manatees have been returned to their natural habitat already.
Florida’s tropical waters are home to a great diversity of life and perhaps none are more rare and endearing than the manatee. These animals spend most of their time feeding (six to eight hours per day) and resting (two to twelve hours per day). In addition to Florida, all living manatee species can be found doing these things in warm tropical and subtropical waters in North America, South America, and West Africa as well.
Populations of all species of manatees have apparently declined over the past hundred years. These declines are due to such causes as hunting for their meat, destruction of their habitats, boating, pollution, and low reproduction rates. However, many organizations like SeaWorld Orlando are working hard to help restore the population of this great animal. SeaWorld is the global leader in the rescue and rehabilitation of manatees. The park’s Animal Rescue Team is on call 365 days a year and 24 hours a day.

SeaWorld Orlando DEBUTS RIDE VEHICLE THAT WILL TAKE GUESTS on first-of-its-kind adventure in 2013 new attraction, Antarctica: empire of the penguinSeaWorld Orlando DEBUTS RIDE VEHICLE
Orlando, FL (November 13, 2012) – At the world’s largest theme park convention – the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions’ Expo 2012 – SeaWorld Orlando execs revealed the vehicle that will take guests on a first-of-its-kind ride to the frozen south in the park’s 2013 attraction and all-new realm, Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin.
“There’s nothing else like this in the world,” said Brian Morrow, SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment creative director. “Next year, this is the vehicle that will take families on an epic adventure and allow them to experience and interact with the thrills, wonders and dangers of Antarctica, all through the eyes of a very special penguin.”
Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin combines a state-of-the-art family adventure ride and closer-than-ever encounters with hundreds of penguins – kings, gentoos, Adelies and rockhoppers – to create Orlando’s must-see 2013 new attraction. Immersing guests in a colony of penguins means Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin will be the coldest theme park attraction in the world.
Designers revealed a bit more about the vehicles’ unique role in the attraction.
The cars themselves are technological marvels. Each car is a mobile simulator, with movements that allow the riders to become one with the storyline as they follow and mimic a young penguin’s adventures. The combination of experiences – mobile, moving simulators and a completely trackless ride – are theme park firsts. Guests will choose one of two levels of adventure. Designers say each level has multiple variations for a feeling of unpredictability, just like the continent of Antarctica.
“When our little hero penguin learns to waddle and slide, we’ll feel what it’s like as the car moves and reacts to the storyline. When he takes his first swim or barely escapes danger, our guests will feel as if they’re right there with him,” Morrow said.
Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin is the biggest expansion in company history. Park execs consider the attraction an all-new “realm,” rather than a single attraction. Antarctica’s scope includes the ride, penguin colony, gift shop and restaurant.
It’s an all-family experience that could only come from SeaWorld and can only be found at SeaWorld Orlando. “We’ve taken our guests and fans on astounding journeys,” said Terry Prather, SeaWorld Orlando’s president. “But no one has ever experienced what we’re bringing to Orlando in 2013. The first-of-its-kind ride, the cold, the wind, the thrills and danger of Antarctica and walking among penguins in a massive habitat is something only SeaWorld could do.”
ORLANDO, Fla. Construction is on-schedule at SeaWorld Orlando’s Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin, and the park has announced May 24 as its grand opening date.
Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin – sure to be Orlando’s must-see new attraction – will transport families into a rarely seen, icy world. They’ll feel the majestic grandeur of the South Pole and see it through the penguins’ eyes on an exhilarating, first-of-its-kind family ride. They’ll explore a massive penguin colony in an expanse that envelops them in cool extremes, both above and below the penguins’ icy world. It’s a must-see, one-of-a-kind theme park experience only at SeaWorld in Orlando.
Fans wanting to explore even more of SeaWorld’s thrilling, chilling new adventure of a lifetime should download the free Antarctica app, available now for iPhones, iPads and Android devices. The app can be downloaded at SeaWorldOrlando.com/Antarctica.
The app is full of incredible create-and-share videos and photos, where fans can swim, march and dance with penguins. They can place their face onto an Antarctic explorer. And the best part? All of videos and photos can easily be shared with family and friends through social media channels — Facebook, Twitter and You Tube – and can be emailed, too.
The app is also the place to get the cold, hard facts about penguins and Antarctica, watch incredible behind-the-scenes teaser videos about the “making of” SeaWorld Orlando’s newest attraction, Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin. Fans can even enter the Family Voyage Sweepstakes to win a trip to Orlando!
